He went out to the spring of water and threw salt in it and said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘I have purified these waters; there shall not be from there death or unfruitfulness any longer.'” [2 Kings 2:21]
In this passage the people went to the prophet Elisha for help. They told him the water of the city was bad and the ground was barren. Elisha asked for a bowl of salt. Then he threw the salt into the spring of water. The water was healed after that and there was no more death caused by the water.
In this short passage the salt symbolised
Jesus. The salt healing, or purifying, the spring is a foreshadow of Jesus coming to the world to purify us, healing us of our sins, and whoever believes in the gospel of Jesus Christ shall not taste death.
