Book review: Marco Polo epic traveler throughout Asia

Title: Marco Polo epic traveler throughout Asia

Author: Jason Porterfield

Publisher: The Rosen Publishing Group

Marco Polo was born in 1254 to a family of merchants in Venice. His father and uncle were away from home for trading when he was born. Their return trip was delayed mainly due to wars, and Marco Polo was already 15 years old when they finally returned.

In 1271 Marco Polo set off for China with his father and uncle. They were warmly welcomed by Kublai Khan and Marco Polo served in his court for 17 years.

This book provides an overview of the life of Marco Polo, from his birth in 1254 to death in 1324. It also briefly mentions the places he visited during his travels. This book serves well for readers wanting an easy and quick understanding on Marco Polo and the Silk Road.
