What is the Word of God and what it does

Below are some verses from the New Testament of the Bible on what is the Word of God and what it does. The verses are by no means exhaustive.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. [Hebrews 5:12-14]

holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. [Philippians 2:16]

and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God [Ephesians 6:17]

but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him [1 John 2:5]

The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. [John 12:48]

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. [Romans 10:17]

Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. [John 15:3]

since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God [1 Peter 1:23]

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” [John 8:31-32]

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. [John 17:17]

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation [1 Peter 2:2]

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. [Hebrews 4:12]
