By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. [Hebrews 11:31]
Chapter 11 of Hebrews is known as the hall of fame. It listed several names starting from Abel. In the case of Rahab, her occupation was explicitly mentioned. The story related to her faith is recorded in chapter 2 of Joshua. Rahab’s occupation was one despised by the people but Rahab put her faith in the right place and her faith saved her when Jericho was destroyed. I guess the author wanted to tell us that faith can save us despite occupation, or the saving grace of God is blind to occupation.
