Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. [Mark 6:48]
This is part of the passage that records the account of Jesus walking on water. Jesus instructed the disciples to go over to the other side of the lake while He went up the mountain to pray. The disciples had a hard time rowing to the other side of the lake due to the strong wind blowing against their direction. Jesus caught up with them. The wind died down when He climbed into the boat.
Like the disciples, sometimes we go through a rough patch and things do not seem to go our way, be it at work or with family. We may even wonder where is Jesus or if He is aware of our problems. Take comfort from the verse that He knows and He would not leave us alone. The verse above shows that Jesus saw that the disciples were having difficulties going against the wind and He joined them. Notice that Jesus could catch up with them even though He set off later. The wind posed no difficulty to Him at all! And with Him in the boat with us, the wind that is blowing against us will die down.
