Work and enjoyment

I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. [Ecclesiastes 3:12-13]

When reading the book of Ecclesiastes, one would see King Solomon describing laboring as meaningless in various verses. But one should not think King Solomon was advocating that we should enjoy life, make merry, and need not work. Rather he was saying we should enjoy the fruits of our labor. There is labor, and there is enjoyment. Simply put, a time to work and a time to enjoy.
