He is our escape door

In the book of Genesis, there are 2 accounts of destruction. The first destruction was the great flood. The second was the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Before the flood came, God told Noah and Noah was instructed to build an ark (see Genesis 6:13-14). He spent the next 140 years building the ark. I can only imagine the scoff and scorn Noah and his family endured. Before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, God sent 2 angels to Lot and they took the family out of the city (see Genesis 19:15-16).

The above 2 examples show us

  1. God issues warning before the destruction.
  2. In His grace, God offers an escape door before the destruction.
  3. The destruction eventually took place.

In the book of Revelation, there are warnings of plagues, tribulations, judgment of the great white throne, and so on. It has been close to 2000 years since the warning was given but if God said it would happen, it will happen. Yet we need not be despaired as God, in His grace, has given us an escape door. The escape door is Jesus.
