But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene– walk!” [Acts 3:6]
Peter said this to a man who was lame since birth, and was asking for alms when Peter and John met him. Considering the commotion Jesus caused, I believe he had heard of Jesus. At that point in time he probably did not believe in Jesus, and his initial thoughts might be “Gold and silver can feed me. Can Jesus do that?” But he took a step of faith, and, by God’s grace, he received a healing miracle. He went home that day a happy man because he asked for alms but instead he received a new lease of life, and that was more precious than gold or silver.
Like the lame man, many people seek wealth in this world. To them, they find joy in having more money. Their attitude towards Jesus can be quite negative. But when they allow Him to enter their life, they will discover the joy of salvation is greater than having all the money in the world, and their attitude towards Jesus will become “Jesus is all I need“.
Jesus may not have a price tag but He is more valuable and precious than gold and silver.
