His personal assurance

And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” [Luke 23:43]

 

Luke recorded for us that 2 robbers were hung beside Jesus. One of them chose to put his faith in Jesus. If he had done many wrong things before that, that was perhaps the most correct decision he made. This unnamed robber had probably committed more serious crimes than robbery and was thus sentenced to be nailed. Yet when he placed his faith in Jesus, Jesus did not reject him but instead assured him of a place in paradise.

 

I think this really shows the grace of our Lord and His willingness to forgive sins. At that time Jesus was in great pain and agony but He had pity for a repenting soul.
