The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. [Mark 1:1]
Commentaries agree that the gospel written by Mark portrays Jesus as a Servant. Perhaps that also explains why there is no lengthy opening or introduction on Jesus in the gospel written by Mark. But Mark added 3 important words in the opening verse to indicate to the readers that the Servant was no mere mortal. The 3 words are “Son of God”. Right in the beginning, Mark was telling the readers that the Servant he wrote about is the Son of God.
Is it not amazing that the Son of God would humble Himself to be a Servant?
