When reading the Gospel of Matthew, one would notice the quotes from the ancient scriptures (Old Testament), and how the author shows the readers that Jesus fulfilled those prophecies. I believe the priests, scribes, and Pharisees of that time were more knowledgeable in the ancient scriptures than Matthew. In fact, they were able to tell Herod that Christ would be born in Bethlehem. Sadly when Christ appeared in front of them, they refused to accept Him. One of the reasons was because Jesus did not meet their expectations or perceived image. For example, they expected Him to observe the Sabbath the way they did, but He did not; they expected Him to stay away from sinners but He drank and dined with them. Their behavior was just like the created expecting the creator to be like it. It should be the creator molding his created to be like him.
