This story took place when I was a recruit. We were seated in the training shed that day and OC was briefing us on some rules and regulations to follow. When it came to maintaining the image of a soldier, or rather personal grooming, he said we could not keep sunburn nor beard, but we could keep a moustache. Then he commented that many of us looked like sissies without a moustache, and thus should keep a moustache to look more manly. Turning to the CSM, an Indian with a big moustache, he asked us “Don’t you all think your CSM is the sexiest man in the company?” That drew some laughter.
