This morning I met a cousin. My cousin is a follower of another faith. Our short conversation somehow turned into a religious talk. He told me he could accept the command by the lamb for his followers to love one another. But he could not believe nor accept that a murderer would go to heaven instead of hell simply by accepting the blood of the lamb. I have struggled with this before, so I know what he is thinking. There is no such thing as a big sin or a small sin, just like D7 is a fail, so are E8 and F9. When the most high one looks at us, we are all sinners and all of us have missed the mark. We are no better than the murderer. All of us would be condemned to hell. But by his grace, our sins can be erased by the blood of the lamb by placing our faith in the lamb. This is the only ticket to heaven. Therefore, the murderer can go to heaven by his faith in the lamb and accepting the blood of the lamb. This is grace! None of us deserve this ticket – it cannot be earned – but yet it is given to us. Our works cannot get us to heaven.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. [Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV]
